Time is running out to order your 2009/10 Forest Park Year Book!  We will not be ordering extra books this year so this pre-order opportunity is the only opportunity you will have.  Download the order form and return to the main office by Friday February 26th.  You won't want to miss these memories!

Let's Get to the Point with Fencing

Brought to you by Forest Park Elementary PTA
Taught by NW Fencing Center

Often called a physical game of chess, fencing develops endurance, coordination, agility, poise and balance.  While fencing is a physical sport, it is also a mental game requiring concentration, quick decision-making and problem-solving.  It's an ideal activity for people of all ages and sizes.

All equipment will be provided, please have your children wear long pants and closed toed shoes.  Class day is Friday from 2:20pm-3:20pm, starting March 12 and ending May 7.  There will be no class the week of spring break.

Walking Wednesday - February 10

Break free of the back seat! Join your friends and neighbors for walk to school.  Don't forget to "Stop and Walk" for those that live farther away.  Stop by the front of the school for your sticker and prizes.

Chain of Hope

Students are invited to bring $1 to help the families in Haiti.  Stop by the donation table on their way into school on Wednesday right next to the Walking Wednesday table. For each $1 donated, the student will be able to write his name on a chain link and can then add their link to the growing "Chain of Hope". All money donated will be given presented to Mercy Corps. Organized by the PTA.

See's Candy - Love Your Valentine!

Next week is the last week to order See's Candy for your Valentines.  Candy will be delivered to your child's classroom on Friday, February 12th toward the end of the day.  There are a limited number of boxes available to buy in the office after school Friday during pick-up time.

Community News

Cardinal Track and Field Team Registration

Cardinal Track and Field is a competitive track and field program offered to Lincoln elementary feeder schools (Ainsworth, Bridlemile, Chapman and Forest Park) for 3rd through 5th grade students interested in competing in area track meets.  The team will practice at Lincoln High School track every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45pm-3:45pm March 30th through May 13th.

The competitive team will practice track and field events offered to elementary age track and field athletes:  starts, relays, field and running events.  The goal of the team is to have fun, learning and working on these events. Melissa Hill, a former Forest Park parent and Portland area coach will coach the team this year.  Enrollment is first come,first served limited to 30 athletes.  Registration forms are available at www.runner2runner.com.  Please return registration forms before March 30th.
