“Warm and Cool Painting”
The second grade students in Mrs,Swandaloeb's class studied warm and cool colors. After admiring the encaustic art technique, which involves painting with wax, we decided to try and get a similar affect by using acrylic gel instead.
Each child in the class painted a 4X4 canvass using a blending technique. Half of the class painted with the acrylic gel using warm colors such as red, orange and yellow. The other half painted with the gel using cool colors such as blues and greens. All of the children also designed a pattern using special symbols learned from class or their imagination.
